Education is fundamental to The Green Village vision, intending to provide opportunities that empower people to build a better future for themselves. Any effort to support education is critical in countering the risk of an entire generation of uneducated children, particularly girls.
The Green Village, with the help of your donation, aims to reach out to the most vulnerable children without families and homes. The aim is to provide them with the necessary resources and funds to ensure they can complete primary education and able to build a future for themselves.
Political instability, terrorism, and economic insecurity have made hunger in Afghanistan a too prevalent epidemic. The Green Village, with the help of your donation, strives to ensure that no child, adult, or family goes hungry by supporting food banks and sponsoring the most vulnerable families.

The Green Village believes that all children should have an equal opportunity at life regardless of background and gender. Your sponsorship will help make a huge difference to a child’s life – ensuring they have an education, enough to eat, and hope for a brighter future.
Driven by poverty, many young children, both boys and girls, are forced to work on the streets to make a living for their families. They make around £1 a day doing jobs ranging from begging, polishing boots, collecting, and selling plastic bags and becoming “Espandis”.

As their sole sponsor, you will have a close relationship with your sponsored child. You will receive handwritten messages, photos, and progress in their education.

40 years of war has made Afghanistan into one of the poorest countries in the world. According to the Afghan Government, 40% of the country’s populations lives below the poverty line, with another 20% highly vulnerable to falling into poverty. The global coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated the situation. As a result, millions of families lack access to adequate nutrition leading to stunted growth in children, malnourishment, and even starvation.

At The Green Village, we have a firm belief in creating the necessary conditions for long-term sustainability. We work with families over an extended period to address their immediate needs, understand their aspirations and provide them with a route to achieve self-sufficiency.
All the families we work with live below the poverty line surviving on less than £1 a day. In addition to meeting their basic needs, we will provide one to one support to show them, through practical ways, that they can change their lives. We will help them manage their finances, gain skills to access jobs, and start-up micro-businesses such as mobile convenience stores.
As a sponsor, you are a vital part of this work, not just by contributing financially, but have the option of working directly with your family, writing to them, and being involved in their journey to self-sufficiency.
Studies have shown that people living in poverty suffer from poor mental health, feel abandoned, and forgotten. Just knowing that someone cares about them can make all the difference.

Just £1.50 a day can help stop a family from going hungry and worrying about where their next meal will come from. It will provide food to those who would otherwise go without, and provide a desperately needy person with a nutritious meal.

Education transforms lives. The Green Village works in some of the poorest regions of Afghanistan to give every child access to free education. We partner with local communities and supporters around Afghanistan to teach the unreached.
Your support helps to provide the necessary resources for students, teachers, and schools. It goes far in helping to keep the motivation high for a teacher to teach and students who are eager to learn and progress. It helps to support the distribution of essential stationery to a student who has nothing but a black chalkboard and a cold, muddy floor. Stationary provided includes whiteboards, workbooks, pens, pencils, rubbers, paper, recreational items, pencil cases, and back bags.

Your support goes hand in hand with our free volunteer-led virtual numeracy, literacy and English language support to adults and children across Afghanistan. With the aim to nurture understanding and confidence in all students, by providing a safe and non-judgmental environment for learning. Students are individually assessed when they start with us, and their progress is continually monitored.
